Katy McNicholas, MA, ATR, LPC

~Adolescents 8+ & Pre-Teens~

Katy is a licensed professional counselor and registered art therapist. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Connecticut Katy has worked with clients in a variety of settings including community health centers, outpatient clinics, emergency shelters, therapeutic and mainstream schools, hospice, and hospitals. She has treated clients suffering from general stress and overwhelming feelings that come with life changes and transitions, difficulty learning and socializing, and she has provided therapeutic relief to those facing more severe hardships such as trauma and loss. Katy’s approaches to treatment are based on cognitive behavioral therapy and dialectical behavioral therapy models. Art and expressive therapies are used as a tool to connect and communicate with clients who may be more apprehensive to traditional talk therapies. Katy believes the relationship between client and therapist serves as the foundation for positive change. She strives in meeting the clients where they are at on their journey to healing and promoting and building upon natural strengths, and a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, specialization in Art Therapy from Lesley University.
